At Neurology Specialists of Morris and Union County, we specialize in the prevention, investigation, diagnosis and treatment of all types of neurological disorders that affect the nervous system (including the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles), such as stroke, Alzheimer’s disease and chronic back pain.
During a neurological examination we review the patient’s medical history with special
attention to his or her current condition. The patient is given a rigorous neurological exam
which tests mental status, function of the cranial nerves (including vision), strength,
coordination, reflexes and sensation. This initial examination, while requiring the
neurologists special skills, experience and in-depth knowledge, is a fairly simple,
inexpensive and non-invasive procedure. The patient undergoes a series of tests and answers various questions concerning the nervous system, which provide the necessary information to determine what might be wrong. Further tests may be indicated to confirm a diagnosis and ultimately guide therapy and appropriate management of the patient’s condition.
